- The Art Walk: Soak in the art buzz of Mumbai as you walk through the charming Kala Ghoda Art Precinct with a knowledgeable guide. The precinct, a short drive from the hotel, stretches from Regal Circle to Mumbai University. Interestingly the area is called Kala Ghoda or Black Horse as a bronze equestrian statue of King Edward VII once stood here!
The easy paced walk through the cultural hub offers visitors vignettes of the city’s history, iconic architecture, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly Prince of Wales Museum), premium art galleries and educational institutions, popular restaurants and stores. Among the galleries is the legendary Jehangir Art Gallery where established and upcoming artists exhibit their works and The Museum Gallery, a modern space also host to interesting art exhibitions. The leafy pavement outside Jehangir Art Gallery is lined with the artwork of promising young artists, who demonstrate, exhibit and sell their inexpensive works as well as interact with viewers.
- The Dabbawalla Experience:The working of dabbawallas, or men who transport lunch boxes, is a unique and fascinating aspect of Mumbai. Every day, with amazing precision they deliver thousands of dabbas or lunch boxes to office goers. As office goers leave home early, their lunch boxes are picked up from their homes once ready later in the morning, transported and delivered at their office by lunch time. Each box bears a simple code on its lid which helps to identify its destination.
The Dabbawalla Experience at the hotel offers guests a glimpse of this unusual service. Guests order from in-room dining and the food is served in a dabba with the service staff dressed as a dabbawalla. A DVD on the dabbawallas is presented with the meal. For a first hand experience, you could take a trip to Churchgate station, with the hotel’s guest relations executive, to see the dabbawallas in action.
- Winky Tales:Enjoy the fun of being a bartender for an hour! Guests step into Wink, the stylish high-energy bar at the hotel and design a cocktail! Wink will promote the cocktail in the course of the evening after the F& B Manger fixes its charge and also give it your name! If the cocktail gets great feedback from guests, it will be honoured in the hotel’s Facebook Hall of Fame.
